Delay Always Works in My Favor

One of the greatest lessons I've learned is that delay always works in my favor. 

I haven't always believed that. There were seasons when I questioned why certain doors weren't opening, why prayers seemed unanswered, or why life wasn't moving according to the timeline I had carefully planned. Like many of us, I wanted clarity, resolution, and progress right away.

But God has a way of reminding us that His timing doesn't always look like ours.

The older I've become, the more I've realized that what I once viewed as delays were often moments of divine preparation. Looking back, I can honestly say there were opportunities I wasn't ready for, conversations I wasn't prepared to have, and blessings I didn't yet have the capacity to steward. If those things had happened when I wanted them to, I might not have appreciated them or handled them well.

I've learned that God's timing is rarely rushed, yet it is never late.

Waiting doesn't always feel good. It can feel uncomfortable, frustrating, and even discouraging at times. We naturally want to know what's next. We want answers. We want movement. But what if the waiting isn't about what's being withheld? What if it's about what's being developed within us?

Some of the greatest growth in my life didn't happen when everything was falling into place. It happened in the quiet seasons when I had no choice but to trust God, continue showing up, and keep preparing even though I couldn't see the full picture.

I've also found that this is true in leadership. The leaders I admire most aren't the ones who rushed into every opportunity. They're the ones who understood that timing matters. They allowed themselves to grow before stepping into the next assignment. They recognized that preparation is just as important as opportunity.

Waiting doesn't mean doing nothing. It means continuing to learn, continuing to pray, continuing to grow, and continuing to trust that God is working even when we can't see it. Preparation is never wasted.

Today, when I experience a delay, I try not to ask, "Why is this taking so long?" Instead, I ask, "Lord, what are You preparing me for?" That one question has changed my perspective. I've stopped seeing delays as detours and started seeing them as evidence that God is intentional. If He's asking me to wait, there must be something worth waiting for.

So if you're in a season where it feels like life has slowed down, don't assume you've been forgotten. Don't believe that your opportunity has passed. This season may be preparing you for something greater than you can imagine.

Hold on to your faith, keep growing, keep trusting, and remind yourself, as I often do:
